MAEAA - MISSION STATEMENT

MAEAA's Members:

Thank you for listening to my tirade during our monthly meeting and for not throwing me out the window.
From the collective reaction it seems that the majority of us agree that we need to re-evaluate the MAEAA's mission. To start a discussion on this subject I have listed some thinking pooints:

1. Should the MAEAA be an informational resource for people who already own electric vehicles as well as for those interested in knowing more about ev's? With this in mind, should we seek for the MAEAA to be a source of information for the local media?

2. Is there a role for the MAEAA to excert political pressure in issues concerning electric vehicles?
3. Should the MAEAA create an educational program to take to schools and the public in general?
4. In view of the upcoming arrival of plug-in hybrid and electric cars after 2010, what roles should we consider for our organization?

Please feel free to add your comments and suggestions. Ultimately, the MAEAA should be a relevant organization as we transition from the internal combustion model to the electrification of transportaition.

Thanks,

Ed

My thoughts are that the MAEAA would be a great source for those of
us that are interested in EVs, and helping to educate us to the
reality of owning and operating them.

From all aspects from the planning of the "vehicle", what obsticles
to pass, what's legal for all neighboring states for EVs, who to
reach out to to pressure local, civic, and state policy makers to
allow EVs on the road. (I've heard nightmares about what's legal in
Kansas VS what's legal in Missiouri.)

Lifetime expectanty of batteries, maintenance involved in motors and
what to avoid (heard horror stories about WildernessEV), and what the
experts definately recommend.

I think one of the groups goals should be to make the younger
generation aware of what we all are doing. Going to tech schools and
showing off the technology that we have done. I know when I get my car
finished I wanted to do these kinds of things with it.

I have learned a lot from all of you in the short time I have been
attending the meetings. It has help me make better decisions on what I
will need for my car and I thank you for that.

food 4 thought...

Hey all:

A number of years ago, when the national chapter got hit with federal requirements that caused them to reconsider their relationship with local chapters (and ended up with them holding our funds), we had discussions about creating a KS or MO Not-For-Profit organization through their Secretary of State (I do this with all sorts of nfp's).  I drafted and we referenced a misison statement (attached) but no one ever seemed interested in creating the state nfp.  If we do create the nfp we can get a federal employee identification number and that would allow the national chapter to forward our revenues to us (as allowed by federal law).

Review the attached and let me know what you think.
